Thursday night dinners 2011

Thursday night dinners started off for 2011 on 3 March.
This year the starting time is 7.30PM, this is due to an explore English class that is held before dinner begins. The English class is from 6.30PM to 7.30PM.

Footprints 2011

Footprints 2011 will be another success in the Global Corporate Challenge.
We are a great team from various areas of the State Library of Victoria.

Footprints in our name for the past 3 years.

Each year we have come out on top.
Each year it gets harder as other State Library teams try to be number one.

Looking forward to a great time May - September.

Thursday night dinners 2009

Thursday night dinners have resumed for 2009.

We have started off "small" around 10 guests each Thursday.

Chinese and South Korean are the main countries represented.

It has become "a home away from home" for some recent arrivals to Melbourne.

If you are coming to Melbourne, Australia to study English, send a note to my email, or make a note on my blog (I do not check it each day).

Tonight is the last Thursday night dinner of 2008.

2008 has come and gone fast. Photos for the dinner are linked to my Thursday night dinner Subject area. Enjoy the photo's. hard to believe another year of dinners has come to an end. Look forward to starting up again when I come back from Asia.

There will most likely be no Thursday night Dinners from mid Sept to mid Oct 2009 as I will be O/S.

My time has been a great opportunity to broaden my understanding of how to use web 2.0 for library and other uses.

Surprised as to how many different places around the world have logged in to my blog.... even Southern Africa. Will continue to learn more about the wonderful new world of cyberspace.

I added my name to wiki today.
I found a mistake on the front page of wiki (Australian Flag did not have a blue background (fly). It originally was red.. just like NZ flag was. You do not believe me! Have a look at the picture of the REB when Parliament was opened in 1901. The flag was RED.

Still having fun working out this blog. The Thursday dinner is possibly 30+ people this week. Going to be fun.

Today we consider the exciting opportunity to learn more about blogging. A new world to me.
State Library of Victoria and a number of other workplaces are encouraging their workforce to learn to blog.

I have just started so still a boring look to the blog.

International student dinner on again tomorrow night. We have a farewell for a friend from Japan.

Thursday night dinner continues to grow.

A dinner that started in 1998 for one student from China now has between 10 - 20 coming on a Thursday night. A few months back we had the largest... 34. There is a range of nationalities attending now. Chinese, Japanese, Taiwanese, Korean, Singaporean, Malaysian and Indonesian.
We have had guests from U.K also. My aunt and I meet folk in the street during the week and invite them home. Also students who come, ask if they can bring friends along too. And so, the dinner continues to grow over the years.
